Platelet-rich plasma application

Through the centrifugation of the patient's own blood, platelet plasma is extracted, which when applied to the injury site stimulates the production of growth factors that intervene in tissue regeneration and repair.

It is currently the most widely used procedure in the entire world for the regenerative treatment of joint and tendon injuries. Osteoarthritis, patellar tendinosis, and pubalgia are some of the ailments that can also be treated with this method.

The procedure is simple: blood is drawn from the patient (between 40 and 60 cubic centimeters for a knee, for example), the blood sample is centrifuged to isolate the platelets, separate the part of the plasma where they are located, and inject it into the site of the injury.

After the application, the patient will have an inflammatory response at the site where the substance was placed (usually the site of the injury). This inflammation may cause discomfort in the subsequent days, which is normal, as it is precisely this inflammatory response that allows the tissues to regenerate.

Since it is an autologous treatment (from the patient's own body), it has no adverse effects. It would only be contraindicated in those who suffer from arthritis (not osteoarthritis), such as rheumatoid or psoriatic arthritis.
